West
Division Winner, Wyoming Cavalry, makes plans for the 2009 post
season
Plans include hosting AIFA Championship Bowl III
(Ticket Discounts currently available for post-season games)
(Casper, WY)
"It's what we've been working towards all year," says Wyoming
Cavalry Head Coach Dan Maciejczak. "Getting to the playoffs, and
[hopefully] hosting the Championship game. Our kids have been
working hard all season, with one goal in mind. We want to bring
the Championship Bowl game to Wyoming and all the fans. We want to
thank all the supporters over the years and bring not only the
game, but the championship to Wyoming." A bowl game win for the
Cavs will be the first professional team championship for the
state of Wyoming.
The
road to the
championship game starts with the Western Conference game on July
10.
The Cavs secured homefield advantage with their win over the New
Mexico Wildcats on June 21. Cavs will host the Utah Valley Thunder
at 7 pm at the Casper Events Center on July 10. "This is,
obviously, a big game for us," says Maciejczak. "The Thunder are a
well-coached, competitive ball club, and they will be looking to
win our game for the same chance to host the championship game. It
would be a big deal for them to host as an inaugural team, and
they will come into the Events Center with determination and
drive. We need to stay focused and play our game. But, we
also need the fans to cheer us on from the stands. It's tough to
play at the Casper Events Center in front of the Wyoming fans."
Maciejczak
is not shy about asking the fans to come out during this year's
post season and continue their love and support of the team. "The
Cavalry has gotten to the Championship 4 times in the past 10
years, but this is the first time we've had the chance to host the
game," continues Maciejczak. "We need the Wyoming fans to come out
and pack the Casper Events Center and show, especially the East
team, our Wyoming hospitality. I don't like to beg, but I will.
We need the fans and supporters to come out to these two games
[July 10 and July 26] and be the 9th man."
"It's an
exciting time to be a Cavs' fans," says General Manager, Mike
Layton. "This is the 10th year of professional indoor football in
Wyoming, and we have the possibility of hosting the championship
game. We've got lots of things planned in July and for the
championship game - we just need the win on July 10 so we can hit
the "GO" button and let everyone know what to expect."
